Free and open source. Install instructions in the repository README.
Overview
Ask for figure captions, poster blurbs, or label alternatives inside Inkscape and place results directly as text objects. Works with local LLMs for fully offline use.
Why it exists
Poster and figure text goes through a dozen micro-iterations — doing them on-canvas keeps you in flow.
How to install
- Open the GitHub repository and follow the README — installation is the standard Inkscape route: copy the extension files into your Inkscape
extensionsfolder. - Restart Inkscape; the extension appears under Extensions in the menu.
- Check the README for dependencies (Python packages, API keys, or external binaries where applicable).
When NOT to use this
Text quality is model-dependent; scientific claims in generated captions still need your verification before print.
